I'm using a DisplayLink Plug and Display laptop docking station to get an additional external monitor on my work machine (running Windows 8 Pro). Most of the time, it works beautifully. However, I have to remember to change my display settings to "PC screen only" before shutting down or going on standby (and disabled shutting off the display when the laptop is plugged). If any of these events take place when the display is extended to external monitors, I have to wrestle with my computer for a couple of boot cycles until things get reset. This sucks but the 3 screens is worth the trouble.
Hopefully, this issue with be corrected by the DisplayLink guys at some point. However, for the meantime, I was thinking that a PowerScript might help prevent me from the occasional accidental reboot with external monitors active. Is there a way to script the Windows+P functionality of changing display settings? Ultimately, what I'd like to do is schedule a task to run when the computer is shut down which would ensure that the display setting is set to "PC screen only".
Thanks in advance.
